JASON LIM

A master ceramist, Jason Lim is also a performance artist, combining skilled craftsmanship in sculpting with influences from performance art. He creates ceramic pieces that go beyond being merely objects of beauty, both conceptual and thought provoking.

For this series, the artist draws inspiration from the spiritual and religious use of cocoa in ancient cultures, researching its symbolic aspects. He incorporated elements that symbolize its sacred and esteemed status. This involved creating abstract depictions of cocoa in ceremonial settings or incorporating symbolic motifs that represent the spiritual significance of the plant.The use of thread, sand and metallic lustres brings forth layers of complexity and texture to his ceramic sculptures.
